The Neighbourhood - Onerahi.

​Onerahi is a seaside suburb of Whangārei, New Zealand's northernmost city. It is the city's only seaside suburb. It is located 9 km south-east of the centre of Whangārei and is principally a peninsula in the Whangārei Harbour, which empties into the Pacific Ocean. 

The suburb's main feature is Whangarei Airport, located on the large flat area at the southern end of the suburb, which was built up using material from the site of a former Maori Pa (fortress) just to the north.

People like the suburb as it has a coastal feel while still being close to the city. There are several playgrounds, a pathway along the seaside on Beach Rd, and also an off road track that links back to the city that is popular with walkers, runners, and cyclists.

It is also the start of the road out to the Whanagrei Heads with all of the popular beaches, fishing spots, and natural beauty to explore.
